Welcome everyone to the Christmas Sparkle Home Tour. I joined a fantastic group of 16 bloggers that are sharing wonderful home tours with beautiful Christmas decorations. Today is the last day of the all homes opened for great enjoyment and its my turn to share with you my home and some of our family traditions that we very much enjoy during the Christmas season.
One of my favorite traditions is putting up the Christmas tree as a family, opening the boxes and remembering the wonderful moments of when we either got each decoration or how some of the decorations that have been given by family members that are no longer with us are cherished and greatly loved. I am glad I get to decorate the rest of the home since nowadays my daughter puts most of the ornaments on the tree and I only get to fill the empty spaces or spread out clusters. Oh but how much joy it brings!
Another one of our family traditions is having a great family reunion on Christmas day, only after we have opened our presents at home. The excitement on my daughter’s face is more than enough to recover from a short two to three hour sleep after spending all night wrapping all the presents. It is amazing, how her excitement and love can re-energize me. That and a very strong cup of coffee, maybe two.
Now on to the tour. Our mantle set up has three very different stockings. My stocking is the red one, my husband’s is the green Santa and my daughter’s is the glittery bright white, an eclectic look, but certainly reflective of our styles.
As you come in through the front door Santa is welcoming our friends and family next to a fun set of Christmas trees.
Right across from the dining room we have another table where we set up our Nativity scene. Putting the nativity scene out is one of my favorite parts of decorating. Its a time when I can talk to my daughter about the real meaning of Christmas. I like the angel made of thin branches and this brings up another one of our traditions, caroling and singing Christmas songs in the evenings. It is so much fun trying to remember the 12 Days of Christmas, it’s one of my daughter’s favorites.
The Christmas tree has some of our own hand made ornaments that we have made over the past few years. These ornaments were made with great love and while making them we also made great memories. Other ornaments are from some of our trips and remind us of great places we have visited. Others are Disney princesses and characters that we enjoy so much.
A few close ups of our ornaments in the tree.
By the fireplace we have another Santa and Christmas tree that are a bit more rustic in style.
