Caribbean flavors and memories of love!
This is one of my favorite pastries, without a doubt. I absolutely love it and every time I eat it I go back to the beautiful island where I am from and remember my childhood, eating guava right out of the tree in my grandmother’s backyard. When I close my eyes and smell the guava, I find myself in that backyard in a very relax outfit and flip flops enjoying eating as many guavas as I could fit in during one sitting. What a wonderful memory and what a wonderful flavor… you are in for a treat of sweet Caribbean flavor!
- 1 box of Pastry puff
- 1 can of Guava paste
- Powder sugar to sprinkle on top
This recipe makes enough for the family to enjoy about 30 to 35 Guava pastry puffs.
Melt the guava paste with a 1/4 cup of water. This will take about 12 minutes at very low heat and will give a very smooth paste to easily scoop into the pastry puffs.
Cut the sheets of pastry puff about 1 1/2 inch tick and place in cookie sheet, bake for 15 minutes. It may take an extra 2-3 minutes depending on the oven heat.
Fill pastry puffs with the melted guava paste and sprinkle powder sugar. This was a family endeavor and the 6 year old was responsible for the sprinkling of the powder sugar. The sweeter the better!
These are certainly a great treat and desert with delicious tropical flavors. You will not be able to eat only one! Its amazing how a simple memory and few ingredients can bring a great opportunity for building even more beautiful moments of love!
I hope you enjoy making these and have a great time with the family… as much as I did.
