Easy Do it Yourself Lavender Essential Oil skin care formulations
Lavender essential oil has become one of my favorites. Since I was introduced to Essential Oils by a friend, and I embarked on a research on their uses, benefits, and properties, Lavender EO seems to be at the top of many lists for its benefits and uses. Lavender essential oil has been proclaimed as one of the most used around the world. Lavender is not only aromatic, as used in aromatherapy for relaxation, it has many other benefits including helping in sleep as well as helping in healing minor burns and cuts.

Lavender Face Toner DIY
How to make Lavender EO face toner
This is a wonderful face toner and the best part is that it only requires a few ingredients.
Ingredients and Materials:
- 2 ounces of rose petal witch hazel
- 5-10 drops of Lavender essential oil
- 2-ounce aluminum spray bottle
Every face toner I have used and loved starts with a base of witch hazel, it is refreshing and also has great properties – in this tutorial I have used a 2-ounce spray bottle.
- Fill the spray bottle 2/3 of the way with rose petal witch hazel
- Add 5-10 drops of lavender essential oil (Note: You can add other essential oils in other quantities if you have a favorite recipe, some I recommend are Frankincense and Melrose from Young Living – (click HERE to become an independent distributor and save 24% of sale price).
- Close the bottle and shake well to mix the witch hazel and EOs
- Top off the spray bottle witch hazel
Basic, simple ingredients that will refresh and tone your face and that you can apply any time you want to tone, refresh, or simply relax. This will make a great face toner that not only smells great but will help you relax and keep your skin looking beautiful.
How to make Lavender whipped body butter
Ingredients and Materials for the Lavender EO Whipped Body Butter
- 3/4 cup of shea butter
- 1/2 cup of coconut oil
- 1/2 cup of almond oil
- 15-20 drops of lavender essential oil
- hand mixer (or stand mixer)
- Container with lid for storing the body butter
- Melt the shea butter and the coconut oil in a double boiler.
- Once shea butter and coconut oil are melted, remove them from the heat add the almond oil, and mix them together
- Let cool for a few minutes and then place in the refrigerator for 2 hours (it should have a gelatinous consistency)
- Add 15-20 drops of lavender essential oil and mix with a hand mixer or stand mixer for approximately 10 minutes, the more air that is added the more whipped consistency your body butter will have.
- Store the body butter in a jar and use as often as needed.
Store in the refrigerator or in a cool room of the house so that it maintains the whipped consistency. If you are in a warm environment, another option is to modify the recipe to include 2-3 ounces of beeswax melted with coconut oil and shea butter or a harder butter such as mango butter or cocoa butter. This will allow the whipped body butter to maintain its consistency in warmer temperatures.
I love using this body butter at night and use a “healthy portion” of it as it also relaxes and is great for a good night’s sleep.
How to make Lavender fizzy bath bombs
Ingredients and Materials to make the Lavender EO fizzy bath bombs:
- 1 cup of citric acid
- 1 cup of baking soda
- 1/2 cup of cornstarch
- 1/4 cup of coconut oil
- 10 drops of lavender essential oil
- Mica colorants (this ingredient is optional)
- Mold or saran wrap
In a glass bowl, mix all dry ingredients together, if you decide to use the mica colorants, add them to the dry ingredients and mix well with your hands.
- In a separate bowl, combine the coconut oil and the lavender essential oil. Slowly pour the dry ingredients while mixing well with your hands. Mix slowly to avoid having the citric acid react with the oils.
- You can add other herbs and flowers to the mix and place them in the molds or in the saran wrap. Make sure to pack it very tight.
- Let dry for at least 24 hours, and enjoy!
These are only three options for Lavender skin care products. These are absolutely wonderful and perfect any time of the year. I am sure there are several other personal care items to make with essential oils and an infinite number of possibilities to use lavender EO in food and beverages.
