Almost Paradise Handmade Candles

Learn How to Make Lovely Handmade Candles

This is another easy DIY and perfect for the Spring.  The Almost Paradise fragrance in these handmade candles is absolutely amazing and the perfect fit for the season. It is definitely a favorite at home.

This DIY is also a good ideas for party favors or to make at a DIY party.  These Almost Paradise handmade candles are also a great and affordable handmade Mother’s day gift.

I decided to use wood wicks for this design because it gives the candles a beautiful rustic look in the coffee mugs. It also matches beautifully with the color of the stenciled flowers on the coffee mugs.

I love the idea of using simple white coffee mugs and applying any design that perfectly matches the aesthetic. For the Almost Paradise fragrance I am using, the flowers stamp go perfectly well. I keep these inexpensive coffee mugs at home to use in different types of crafts and I love how beautiful they look in candles.

Materials needed to make the Almost Paradise Handmade Candles

  • 2 Dollar Tree white coffee mugs
  • 2 wood candle wicks
  • Adhesive Floral stencil
  • Acrylic oven bake paint
  • 100% natural soy wax
  • Almost paradise fragrance (I purchase this one at Rustic Escentuals)
  • Peach color ribbon
  • Decorative flowers

How to make the Almost Paradise coffee cup candles

First, stencil the coffee cups using the floral stencil and the acrylic paint.  Follow the instructions on the paint for baking the cups to make sure the color stays.  The paint I used took about 20 minutes at a 170 degrees F temperature in the oven.

Be careful removing the cups from the oven, make sure to use mittens and allow the mugs to cool for a few minutes.

Then, weigh out the amount of wax needed, in this case I used about 22 ounces of natural soy wax and was able to make two full mug candles and another half of a mug.

Melt the natural soy wax using a double boiler method.  I prefer this method just to make sure I do not overheat the wax but you can use the microwave as well, just make sure to melt at 30 second intervals and watch carefully until fully melted.

Once the wax is fully melted add the Almost Paradise fragrance and mix well.  This fragrance smells amazing and it is perfect for Spring or Summer.  Its a lovely fragrance, smells just like peaches and cream.  For this project I used up 1.55 ounces I had left over from another project and it was just perfect.

Set the wood candle wicks on the mugs and pour the wax into the molds.  Make sure to center the candle wicks as these could move while pouring.  Once happy with the centering of the candle wood wicks, allow the new candles to cool.

Lastly, finish decorating the Almost Paradise handmade candles with the beautiful flowers and the peach color ribbon.

These candles not only smell amazing but look absolutely beautiful.  I love how these turn out.

The color of the ribbon matches perfectly the color of the paint on the mug and goes perfectly with the amazing fragrance.

If you liked this project you may also like the Lavender and Floral soy wax candles, where I used a mix of Lavender essential oil and made using cupcake liners.  Also, the Lavender Vanilla natural candle is another fun project to try.

I have compiled the top 5 DIY Craft kits for adults in another post.  Whether you are looking for more DIY ideas or exploring a new hobby, these kits will definitely get you started.  And who knows, maybe one of those becomes a fun and fulfilling hobby.

Marbled Clay Palette DIY

These past few days I have been good at keeping my daily painting practice.
