Simple, easy steps and minimum materials needed for this project. Here is how to antique your favorite art with chalk paint and sand paper
Select your favorite art in its current frame and use your imagination… with colors and contrasts that fit your design and style to bring a new look to your home. Compare and contrast colors with other décor items around the area where you plan to place your favorite art work.

Step 1: Prepare the area by placing painters tape to cover the picture making sure all the art is covered. Try to get the tape as much under the frame as possible so that no paint can go under the tape and damage the art.
Step 2: Select the color that fits your décor and a brush. I used the lace color from American décor for this project. The lighter colors help brighten up the space and that was the main purpose of the project.
Step 3: Paint the frame with your favorite color. I did three coats for this frame because of the black background. With a lighter color frame you may only need one or two coats.
Step 4: Sand off some of the paint using the sand paper to give it an “antique” look.
Step 5: Have fun giving it the look you want, the best part is that its unique and with the “antique” look it does not have to be perfect… however, in the end it is perfect to fit the room décor and bring more joy to the family.
I was so proud, not only because I like how it turned out but because my daughter thoroughly liked it. She liked it so much that she asked for pictures to be taken with her next to it! This not only make a mother proud but also a DIYer’s day.
