Bali Breeze Whipped Soap Salt Scrub

Today I want to share a summer-inspired DIY. I’ve been wanting to use the Bali Breeze fragrance oil I’ve had for a while but have not used it yet. I grew up at the beach and the beach is my happy place so the scent is just perfect for a beach-themed salt scrub. Salt scrubs are great for providing a mild exfoliation of the skin.

This DIY summer scrub is perfect to use all year long but inspired by the summer aromas and adventurous spirit for summer vacations. In this tutorial, I combine both the whipped soap base and the honey melt and pour soap base to create a perfectly moisturizing, exfoliating salt scrub. This salt scrub is perfect to use in the shower and bath. The texture is just perfect and has a lot of great lather. This Bali Breeze salt scrub not only has the perfect aroma of summer but is also great for exfoliating after a long day in the sun.

Whipped soap salt scrubs are a great addition to your skincare routine

The whipped soap base I use in this DIY feels super luxurious on the skin. I added mango butter to this salt scrub formulation to help moisturize the skin as well. The mango butter adds a layer of additional moisture without impacting the lather.

The whip soap base can be made easily in advance or you can make it as part of this DIY as well. Simply follow the DIY Whip Soap Base post. In this DIY I used my other favorite purchased whipped soap base. I have tons of this available at home because I love making whipped soap. The whipped soap base is known as a foaming bath butter. It is fantastic and makes lots of creamy bubbles and can take additional oils and butters without impacting its efficacy and lather.

Making whipped salt scrubs using the soap base is very easy and only requires a few additional ingredients to create a unique and wonderful product.

How to make whipped soap salt scrub

Ingredients and materials for the whipped salt scrub

  • 4 oz foaming bath butter
  • 1.5 oz Honey Melt and Pour soap base
  • 0.1 oz Vitamin E Oil
  • 1 oz Mango Butter
  • 6 oz Himalayan Sea Salt – fine-grain
  • 1 ml Bali Breeze fragrance oil
  • 1/8 tsp Mica soap colorants (I used Caribbean Sea blue mica)
  • Hand mixer
  • Mixing bowls
  • 2 – 4 oz mason jars with lid

The foaming whipped soap base comes in a sealed plastic container and looks a lot like a regular melt and pour soap base but is softer and easy to whip.

Separate 4 ounces from the foaming bath butter soap base container and whip for approximately two to three minutes. It will start to fluff and will be easier to whip.

In a microwave-safe measuring cup melt the mango butter. Add the melted mango butter to the base and whip it for another two to three minutes.

Place the honey melt and pour soap base into a microwave-safe bowl and melt using the microwave. For the small amount I used, 15 seconds was more than enough. Do not overheat the melt and pour soap base. If the melted soap starts making bubbles in the microwave it can diminish the lather of the soap.

Add the shea butter and honey soap mix, and the vitamin E oil and whip for a few more minutes to fully incorporate.

Add the Bali Breeze fragrance oil or your favorite essential oil if using.  Continue to whip for another two to three minutes until fully combined and enough air is incorporated to get a fluffy consistency.

How to color the super skin-loving Bali Breeze whipped soap salt scrub

Add the mica colorant to the mixing bowl.

Mix in the mica by whipping the soap for a few more minutes. I like to combine the mica colorants using a spatula first to avoid creating a cloud of colorants in the air. Then mix with the hand mixer to fully combine.

Lastly, add the salt to the soap and combine using a spatula.

Spritz some rubbing alcohol in the jars before adding the salt scrub. Let the jars air dry before transferring the whipped soap salt scrub into the jars.

And finally, transfer the Bali Breeze whipped soap salt scrub into the jars.

How much shea butter do you add. The amount is not listed in the recipe.

You can split the one ounce of mango butter to 0.5 oz of mango butter and 0.5 oz of shea butter or use the full 1 oz of mango butter only.
