Banana & Bubble Gum Wax Melts

Easy DIY Banana & Bubble Gum wax melts that make your home smell delicious

Banana and Bubble Gum wax melts

These Banana & Bubble Gum wax melts are very easy to make and a fun DIY for the summer.  I picked bright pink, yellow, and orange to match the wonderful fragrance.  Let’s not be deceived by the name of “monkey farts”; it really smells just like bananas and bubble gum.  It’s one that will make us adults have memories of our childhood when eating lots of gum.  I certainly did!  Certainly, kids will love this fragrance as well.

This DIY is another fun activity that you can do with your kids if you have any.  But making it by yourself is also fun too!  I did have a lot of fun making these ones and had the home smell wonderful.

Materials and equipment you will need:

  • 1 1/2 cups of 100% natural soy wax
  • candle dyes in pink, yellow, and orange
  • “monkey farts” fragrance – smells just like banana and bubble gum
  • mini cupcake liners
  • 3 mixing cup
  • mini cupcake tin

Easy and fun DIY – Making Banana & Bubble Gum wax melts

Step 1: Insert the mini cupcake liners in the mini cupcakes tin.

Step 2: Melt the soy wax using a double boiler method.

Step 3: Add the fragrance to the fully melted soy wax.  Make sure to read the IFRA for the fragrance, this will guide you on the maximum amount to use by category.  In this case, the maximum recommended is 10% for vegetable wax.  I used less than 3 milliliters only for a full 1 1/2 cup of soy wax and the smell was still strong.

Step 4:  Split the melted wax into three separate mixing cups.

Step 5:  Add the pink, yellow, and orange colorants respectively to each to the split melted wax and mix well.

Step 6: Tilt the tin using blocks and pour the first layer of wax melt in pink.  Wait a few minutes until the surface of the first layer is a bit hardened, then pour the second layer and wait again until the second layer is hardened.  Pour the last layer and allow it to fully hardened and cool.

It does not take a lot of time between layers since these are fairly small.  These also cool fast, you will certainly have a great-smelling house in no time.

Once fully hardened and cooled, remove the paper cupcake liners and enjoy.

A few tips on cleaning the equipment used

I recommend cleaning the glass measuring cups while still warm with a paper towel to remove any excess wax left in the measuring cup to avoid it going through the sink.  Wash the measuring cups with warm to hot water and dish soap.

This fragrance is so good.  It will make your whole home smell like bananas and bubble gum.

Another way to use soy wax is to make wonderful candles.  I made one some time ago using natural soy wax and lavender essential oil that had the house smell amazing.  You find the Lavender and Floral soy wax candle here.  Another fun soy wax candle DIY is my Lavender and Vanilla soy wax candles.

I hope you enjoy and get to make these wax melts. I think the multi-color design is as groovy as the fun scent.

Hi Beth, thanks for the invite. I will certainly head over. The name of the fragrance is so funny but it smells really good, like the bubble gum from our childhood.

I bet these smell wonderful! I ‘m pinning this for later! Every Halloween, I put bubblegum scented wax in my wax warmer. I like the house to smell, so it would be cool to make my own. Thanks for sharing! I’d like to invite you to share this awesome post at this week’s Snickerdoodle Create Bake Make Link Party at my blog SewCraftyCrochet.com. I hope to see you there! Have a great weekend!!!
