Ingredients to make the double butter – mango and kokum butter body butter

  • 2.5 oz Mango butter
  • 1.3 oz Kokum butter
  • 1.2 oz of jojoba oil or sweet almond oil
  • 1 tsp Vitamin E oil
  • 1 ml Fragrance – Cashmere from Brambleberry
  • 1 – small plastic jars
  • Mixing bowls

How to make Cashmere Winter mango butter and kokum butter – double butter – body butter

Weigh out the mango butter and place it in a heat safe mixing bowl.

Weigh out the kokum butter butter and place it in a heat safe bowl with the mango butter.

Melt the mango butter and kokum butter in the microwave in 30 second intervals.

Once the mango butter and kokum butter are melted, add the jojoba oil/sweet almond oil and the Vitamin E oil and combine using a spatula.

Place in the refrigerator for 45 minutes to an hour or until it has hardened. See the picture below to see how it should look when you get it out of the refrigerator.

Remove the mixture from the refrigerator and whip it using a hand mixer for a couple of minutes until the mango and kokum butter body butter starts to fluff.

Add the Cashmere fragrance oil.

The fragrance is optional. The mango butter and kokum butter both have a light scent that complements and blends well with the wintery cashmere scent.

Mix well for another 5 minutes until fluffy and soft.

Separate 1/3 of the body butter and add the peach-pink color mica.

Place both the not colored and peach-pink colored body butter side by side on cling wrap, then insert into a piping bag.

Pipe the body butter to your favorite container and use as needed. Either glass or plastic containers will work. Make sure to keep it in an airtight container. This body butter can last a long time, both the mango butter and kokum butter generally have a shelf life of at least one year. If you plan to keep this body butter for a very long time, you can add a preservative. My recommended preservative is Optiphen +.

This is a great body butter for hot days, both the mango butter and kokum butter are very hard butters and keep well in higher temperatures. None of these feel greasy, however, if you find the body butter too greasy for you, you can add arrowroot powder. I recommend starting with 1 teaspoon of arrowroot powder for every two ounces of body butter. Add more until it feels perfect for you. I like the perfect combination of mango butter and kokum butter for the perfect body butter for the Texas temperatures.

Benefits of mango butter and kokum butter in skin care products:

Here are the top five benefits of mango butter and kokum butter in skincare, especially in body butters:

Top 5 Benefits of Mango Butter in Skincare and Body Butters

  1. Deep Hydration
Mango butter is rich in fatty acids like oleic and stearic acid, which penetrate deeply into the skin to provide lasting moisture without feeling greasy.
  2. High in Antioxidants
It’s packed with antioxidants like vitamins A, C, and E that help neutralize free radicals, which research states could help to reduce signs of fine lines, and sun damage.
  3. Skin Softening
Mango butter is known for its ability to soften rough patches and smooth out dry or flaky skin.
  4. Soothes the skin
Research states that it has anti-inflammatory properties that make it soothing for sensitive skin.
  5. Non-Comedogenic
Unlike some other butters, mango butter is light and non-comedogenic, meaning it won’t clog pores.

Top 5 Benefits of Kokum Butter in Skincare and Body Butters

  1. Intense Moisturization
Kokum butter is highly emollient yet lightweight, deeply moisturizing without leaving a heavy residue.
  2. Promotes Skin Regeneration
Rich in essential fatty acids, kokum butter can support skin regeneration and elasticity.
  3. Soothing to the skin
Kokum butter is said to aid in soothing and repairing cracked or damaged skin.
  4. Non-Greasy Feel
Kokum butter is quickly absorbed by the skin, leaving a non-greasy finish, which is perfect for those who prefer lighter body butters.
  5. Ideal for Sensitive Skin
Kokum butter is hypoallergenic and gentle.

Both of these butters can be used independently or combined in body butter formulations to create products that deeply nourish and restore skin. Their unique properties complement each other beautifully, offering rich, skin-loving benefits without a heavy feel.

This body butter can be used as is or as a starting point for other body butters. If you have been following this blog, you know I like to use the 70/30 ratio for body butters to liquid oil. However, for summer temperatures I prefer a simple body butter just like this one.

I also share a Turkish Mocha whipped triple butter body butter that you may like to try as well. Another wonderful body butter that features mango seed butter is my Mango and Avocado body butter. It is rich in vitamins and skin loving properties and is another perfect gift for friends and family. Maybe a simple kokum butter body butter, that is perfect for skin care products. Try my Kokum butter body butter recipe and DIY. I hope you like it.

Thank you for sharing this recipe. When I made it, as I was beginning to whip the butter it became very thick and quite hard, almost jamming up the beater. Is there any reason for that to happen? The only way I could ‘loosen’ it so that I could whip it was to add a little more oil. I used sweet almond oil. I followed your instructions exactly. A couple of weeks ago I tried a different recipe from your collection and the same thing happened. Am I doing something wrong? I certainly like your recipes and the 70/30 ratio. The only difference that I can think of is that the weather is slightly cooler at 71 degrees Fahrenheit today. I would certainly appreciate your thoughts on this if you’re able. Thanks so much

Hello, thank you so much for stopping by and for trying my body butter recipes. The temperature in the room can certainly impact how quickly the butters go back into its main solid state. I prefer a high butter content because of the temperatures here in TX and I don’t want my body butters to melt but certainly increasing the amount of liquid oils can help. Both kokum butter and mango butter are very hard butters, try also letting the butters start to solidify at room temperature, and not placing it in the refrigerator, then whip once you start seeing the combined body butter starting to form a film, not fully solidified yet.

Thank you for your help. When I started whipping it was just firming a little round the edges and starting to become opaque, but still liquid throughout. I forgot to mention that I used mango butter and Shea butter instead of kokum butter as that is what I had. . Could that have made a difference? Also I had only whipped it for a couple of minutes when it started to seize and harden , I hardly whipped it at all. So many recipes instruct you to whip for at least 5 minutes, but I had only been whipping for about 1-2 minutes (I had a clock in front of me). This morning it is a little firm, but feels nice and absorbs quickly and is not greasy at all. Do you think it would be ok? Thanks, Iris

Hello Iris, yes I think the body butter will be ok and if it feels good to you then it is great. I don’t think the issue with whipping is the shea butter, however shea butter has a lower melting point so it may just be softer. If you whipped it enough to mix the ingredients well and it feels good to you and absorbs well then I would say it is good to use. Thank you so much for trying the recipe and letting me know. All the best to you!

Thank you so much for your kind help and advice on the Cashmere Winter Body Butter. My daughter-in-law loves it. Might I ask if you would have a recipe for a face cream with a spf factor? My daughter has asked for something like this. Thanks again
