How to make bookmarks using decorating tape
This decorating tape bookmark project is a great fun paper craft. I love to read and we read at home daily. My daughter practices her daily 25 minutes reading while my husband and I enjoy different fiction series, business books and other inspiring and self development books. These decorating tape bookmarks will definitely be used at home.

Also, with school starting soon this is a very unique way to make some fun items to take and use at school. These easy bookmarks using decorating tape are a fun project for adults and kids alike.
Gather the materials for the decorating tape bookmarks
For this project you will need:
- cardstock paper in light pink and light blue
- decorating tape in multiple pink and blue with multiple designs and sizes
- craft paper trimmer
- 1-hole paper punch
- cotton twine in white and pink, and blue gift wrap twine
Step by step how to make decorating tape bookmarks
Cut the cardstock paper to 7 inches in length and 2 inches in width.
Define the pattern for the decorating tape bookmarks and start applying the pattern to the cardstock at an angle making sure that the end of the decorating tape covers the end corner.
Make sure the ends of the tape extend at least 1/4 inch past the size of the cardstock paper.
I made two bookmarks, one in various blue colors and one in pink.
For the blue pattern I used five decorating tapes in various styles. Once I arrived at the middle with the fifth decorating tape I reversed the pattern. The pattern looks 1-2-3-4-5-4-3-2-1. The decorating tape in the middle was the widest of all used.
Once the pattern with the decorating tape is complete and the cardstock paper fully covered, cut out the excess tape with the scissors.
For the pink bookmark I used a different pattern. In this one I use, d a 1-2-3-4-5-1-2-3-4-5 pattern. Two of the decorating tape that I used in this pattern were a smaller size, about 1/4 inch each. Follow the same steps above and make sure to start at a corner and continue in the diagonal making sure the there are no spaces between the decorating tapes.
Measure exactly at one inch towards the center from the long side and at 1/2 inch from the top of the bookmark and mark it with a small dot. Use the paper hole punch and punch out a hole to insert the twine.
Cut two strings of the blue twine at 9 inches long and fold in the middle. Insert the folded end through the hole from the back of the bookmark to the front, then loop in the loose ends of the twine strings and pull through. Do the same for the pink decorating tape bookmark using the cotton pink and white twine.
Now you have two very unique bookmarks
These are certain to be a great topic of conversation at school, at the office or at the coffee shop.

Ohh what a fun project! I’m going to have to make this project with my kiddos. They are always scrounging around for something to use as a bookmark, and it usually ends up being just a scrap piece of paper. I think the kiddos would have fun making their own bookmarks 🙂 .
