With Halloween right around the corner and with all the school changes and new routines, I did not think much about Halloween decorations this year. I am so glad I always have scrapbook paper at home. This paper wreath will definitely help with the decorations this year. This Halloween paper wreath is easy to make and best of all is that it can be made with items I generally have at home.
Materials for the Halloween paper wreath
- 12 x 12 inch Halloween scrapbook paper
- Paper trimmer
- hot glue gun with glue sticks
- scissors
- small paper plate
- ribbon
The scrapbook paper I used on this project is monochrome yet still fun. One of the papers has small skulls in it, and another one has spider webs. These are perfect for this project.
Step by Step Halloween paper wreath
Cut the scrapbook paper in 6 x 6 inches squares using the paper trimmer.
The small paper plate I used for the back to hold the wreath was the 7-inch cake plate that is normally used at birthday parties. Cut the beveled edge, making the plate about 6 inches in diameter. Don’t have paper plates, no worries, you can use a cardboard box and cut a circle 6 inches in diameter.
Make the paper cones by setting one corner of the scrapbook paper up and folding them in the sides, then make them into a cone and glue the edge. You will need 14 cones to complete the wreath.
Making the first cone can be a bit tricky and you may have to try a few times but by the second and third cones, it will only take seconds to make each cone.
Once you have folded and glued all the cones, make sure to set the pattern. Once happy with it, glue it to the back of the cut plate.
To make the flower for the center of the wreath, use one of the 6 x 6 inch scrapbook paper squares and draw a curvy spiral on it.
Cut the paper on the lines created. At this point, it looks like a spiral.
Fold the flower from the inside of the spiral out and keep it very close. Place the folded flower on a flat surface and allow it to unravel to 1 1/2 to 2 inches.
Glue the flower in the center of the wreath. Then glue the purple ribbon on the back of the wreath.
And voila! A beautiful Halloween paper wreath to decorate this year.
