These Valentine’s Day bath bombs are a fun DIY to make and pamper yourself as well.
Ingredients and Materials
- 2 cups baking soda
- 1 cup citric acid
- 2 tbsp SLSA
- 2 oz coconut oil
- 5 drops of Peppermint essential oil (find my favorites here)
- witch hazel in a spray bottle
- plastic bath bomb mold
- 1 tsp Polysorbate 80
DIY Valentine’s Day Bath Bombs in five easy steps
First combine the baking soda, citric acid, and SLSA in a large bowl and break any clumps with your hands. Wear gloves and possibly a mask, the SLSA is very fine, and if you breathe it in it can be scratchy on your throat.
In a measuring cup, measure out the coconut oil and melt if needed. Add the peppermint oil and polysorbate 80 and mix well. Polysorbate 80 is an emulsifier that helps mix the oil and mica with the bath water so that there is no separation or pooling on the top.
Combine the wet ingredients with the dry ingredients and mix well with your hands. The consistency should be like wet sand, if needed add the witch hazel to make sure the mix is wet enough to hold its shape.
Put the bath bomb mix on the disk bath bomb molds to give it the shape and allow it to dry overnight.
Unmold the bath bombs and decorate using a brush creating a brush stroke using mica colorant mixed in alcohol. Allow drying.
Bath bombs are great for a bath to add some moisturizing oils and enjoy a relaxing bath. These Valentine’s Day bath bombs can be a fun project to work on with kids as well.
