Today I wanted to share a short post on how to draw a beautifully stylized pumpkin basket that can be used for home décor. Lately, I have been creating almost all of my art using the Procreate app on my iPad. It is a great app if you like to create digital art and with so many brushes available it is perfect for creating in so many mediums and textures.

I love fall, ok I say that about all the seasons but I definitely enjoy the fall as the days start to cool off, the leaves are changing colors and it is just a lovely season. Pumpkins are definitely one of the staples of fall and I found a gorgeous picture in Unsplash that inspired this artwork. How to Draw a Stylized Pumpkin Basket
Create the sketch based on your inspiration and a combination of pictures and ideas.
Once the sketch is ready apply the base color to the basket and the pumpkins each in a separate layer.
Proceed to add shadows and highlights. A simple way to add shadows and highlights is to set two layers to clipping mask. Set one layer to “Multiply” blending mode for shadows and the other to “Screen” for highlights. This is a simple way to add highlights and shadows and I use it often. However, another way that I like to add highlights and shadows to the art is by selecting darker and lighter colors. With the color selection, there is so much more flexibility and a lot more options to bring more contrast to the artwork.
Define where the light will be coming from in your art and try to stick to it in the design. Do not forget shadows from some of the pumpkins to the other pumpkins. This will give a realistic look to your artwork.
Add details and texture to the background and the overall art for more interest.
