Some time ago I bought a bottle of Italian grapeseed oil on sale and really liked the way the bottle looked. I was looking forward to using up the oil for soap and cooking. The glass bottle was just lovely and I decided to turn it into a beautiful vase. I am so glad that I was able to turn the bottle into a usable beautiful home décor item that I can enjoy every day.

Materials for this upcycled flower vase for home décor
- your favorite glass bottle – or you can buy one at the dollar store
- FolkArt milk paint in milky white
- Decorative wood flowers in cream color
- raffia strings
- burlap rose flower
- paint brush
How to make an upcycled flower vase from an oil glass bottle
First clean the bottle very well with soap and water and allow to fully dry. Remove all the labels under hot water and remove all the adhesive. I cleaned the outside of the bottle one more time with some alcohol to make sure all the oil from the hands and touching the bottle was also removed.
Paint the bottle with the milk paint in milky white using a soft paint brush. I did two coats for this project and that ended up giving a perfect full coverage. Allow the bottle to dry overnight.
Once the paint is fully dry decorate the bottle neck with the raffia. Glue the burlap rose decorative flower in the middle and insert the wood flowers.
Sometimes we find these small things we like and keep for a later time. With a bit of creativity we can transform them and re-purpose them into lovely practical thing. This new vase is perfect for the centerpiece of the kitchen table.
I had the candle holders for some time. The style of the candle holders is a bit modern and geometric but I like the contrast it makes with the almost farmhouse look of the new upcycled vase. Maybe a Modern Farmhouse style!
I think the upcycled vase looks also great next to the antique globe style clock.
With these options I have some ideas to change up the home décor and move things around the house to create a different ambiance during the year. I think I will leave as the kitchen table centerpiece for now. Maybe later I will move my new vase to the console table next to the clock.

Lovely use of a pretty bottle which would otherwise have ended up as rubbish or recycling. Thanks so much for linking up with #KCACOLS, I hope you come back again next time x
