Fabric Flower Vase for Home Decor DIY

Today I want to share another fun project using fabric squares. I love seeing my designs in fabric and in products and this fabric flower vase DIY is amazing because it provides both, the use of the fabric on a lovely flower vase for home decor. I had a lot of fun working on this fabric flower vase DIY, and I hope you have a lot of fun making it as well. This DIY gives you yet another unique home decor item that is sure to be a conversation starter.

One of the things I love most about making DIY projects is that I can create unique items that are certainly as unique as my style and unique as I am. This is a great yet simple craft that shows you the wonderful transformation that a bit of fabric and some imagination can create. I have a few sewing crafts that I have shared that can be another way to use your favorite fabric. After you finish this fabric flower vase DIY head over to my Tablet Fabric Cover Easy Sewing DIY, How to Make Novelty Reversible Placemats, DIY Study Room Pin Boards, and my Fabric Picture Frame DIY.

For today’s project I am using fabric squares that I had from my earlier fabric designs I have made available in my Spoonflower Store. When you submit patterns to sell on Spoonflower you have to purchase a sample to validate the design, colors, and scale. I love making some unique DIYs with test samples!

Materials needed for the fabric flower vase DIY:

  • 3 fabric squares – 6 in x 6 in fabric squares – you can buy fat quarters at Spoonflower as well
  • Dollar Store glass flower vase
  • Sewing machine with thread and needle
  • Fabric Mod Podge
  • Sponge paint brush

How to make a fabric flower vase

First, measure the vase and cut the fabric to the correct size to cover the full circumference of the glass flower vase.

Set up the design based on the fabric you select. For the fabric I am using I decided to make a border.

Sewn top half of the fabric flower vase.

Sew the fabric so that the overall width and height of the fabric square cover the full circumference of the flower vase.

Apply a thin layer of the fabric mod podge to the back side of the sewn fabric.

Also, apply a thin layer of the fabric mod podge to the glass vase.

Carefully attach the fabric to the glass vase. Continue to add mod podge as you move around the circumference of the glass vase.

Then using your fingers fold the top of the fabric over the top edge of the vase.

Finished fabric flower vase that needs to fully dry.

Allow the fabric flower vase to dry for 45 minutes to an hour.

Once the fabric flower vase is fully dry add the flowers and decorate the home.

To finish the flowers use the fabric mod podge to glue in the wax stamps as the flower centers to the fabric flowers.

Enjoy the fabric flower vase and decorate the home

I really love how this flower vase is just completely unique. Make sure to get your favorite fabric and mix and match colors and floral styles.

I also love how you can create a simple quilt-style design with multiple fabric squares and bring quilting into home decor.

The sky is the limit on how many variations you can make with so many fabric designs available.

I love making patterns for fabric and other products. You can find my designs also available at Raspberry Creek Fabrics.

The idea of this project is to reflect your personality and spark your creativity and imagination. Also, to have a fun afternoon creating something unique that you can enjoy for years to come. This project is also a great gift idea!

I hope you get some inspiration from this project and get to try it soon. I would love to see what you make

Stay creative, and stay unique!

Marbled Clay Palette DIY

These past few days I have been good at keeping my daily painting practice. I realized I have a few palettes, however, since I mostly use watercolor and regular gouache I sometimes keep the leftover paint in the palette since I can rewet and use it. I found myself looking for another palette and decided […]
