Honey Hibiscus Whipped Soap Perfect for Spring and Summer

I’m excited to share this lovely and luxurious Honey Hibiscus spring and summer-inspired whipped soap DIY. This soap has a lovely aroma of sweet honey and hibiscus flowers, a perfect scent for both spring and summer. This is the first time I have used this Honey Hibiscus fragrance oil, and it is really lovely. I purchased this fragrance oil in one of the collections from Brambleberry and had not had the chance to use it yet. I love that it has a lovely honey scent as well as hibiscus flower scent that with additional fruity notes that make it perfect for a spring-themed or summer-themed soap. I plan to use it in a cold process soap soon, I hope you stay tuned for that DIY as well.

This whipped soap is inspired by the lovely Sweet Nectar and Hibiscus from Brambleberry. Hibiscus flowers are one of my favorites, we had them all the time at home growing up. I also planted hibiscus in our front garden, and they lasted a very long time. Unfortunately, we lost it to hurricane winds. One thing I love about making whipped soap is that I can customize it with different colors and scents to create unique whipped soaps for every season. For this Honey Hibiscus summer soap DIY, you can use a whipped soap base as I am sharing on the ingredients list, or make your own. I have a DIY whipped soap base from scratch post that you can use to make your base from scratch. Otherwise, I recommend one of my favorite store-bought whipped soap bases, listed in the ingredients list below. This Honey Hibiscus whipped soap is a great hostess gift to make for friends and family any time of the year.

Honey Hibiscus Whipped Soap Perfect for Summer

I like making the two-color style whipped soaps because the design gives it a bit more sophistication, and simply because it is fun. However, you can choose to use a single color and only color the borders as I did in the Vanilla Woods Whipped Soap DIY post or the Creme Brulee Whipped Soap DIY.

In this whipped soap DIY formulation, I’ve added shea butter and MCT oil. I’ve used shea butter in several of my whipped soap formulations because it is great for the skin, one of my favorites to use for all my soaps. I use it all the time in my cold process soaps, whipped soaps, and body butters. It is great for skin care products. However, today I am using MCT oil, which I don’t use as often, but it is a fantastic oil to use in skin care products. I love the silky soft feel on the skin.

Benefits of MCT Oil and Shea Butter in Skin Care Products

MCT Oil in Skincare Products:
MCT (Medium-Chain Triglyceride) oil, commonly derived from coconut oil, is a lightweight, non-greasy oil that’s easily absorbed by the skin. It’s valued in skincare formulations for its ability to nourish and hydrate without clogging pores. MCT oil acts as an excellent carrier oil, helping to deliver active ingredients deep into the skin. It’s ideal for sensitive and acne-prone skin due to its gentle, soothing nature.
Benefits:

  • Deeply moisturizes without leaving a greasy residue
  • Helps maintain the skin’s natural barrier
  • Contains antimicrobial properties that can help reduce acne-causing bacteria
  • Rich in fatty acids that nourish and soften the skin
  • Supports faster absorption of other beneficial ingredients

Shea Butter in Skincare Products:
Shea butter is a rich, creamy fat extracted from the nuts of the shea tree and is highly valued in skincare for its intensive moisturizing properties. Packed with vitamins A and E, it helps to soothe and moisturize dry skin. Research suggests it also has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant qualities, making it ideal for promoting skin regeneration and improving elasticity. Shea butter forms a protective barrier on the skin, locking in moisture and shielding it from environmental stressors. It is used widely in skin care products.

You can also replace the shea butter with kokum butter, mango butter, or cocoa butter to make the formulation harder if it is too soft for you.

Honey Hibiscus Whipped Soap DIY Ingredients and Materials

  • 4 oz foaming bath butter
  • 1.5 oz MCT Oil
  • 1/2 tsp Vitamin E Oil
  • 1.25 oz Shea Butter
  • 0.5 ml Sweet Nectar and Hibiscus Fragrance oil (from Bramble Berry)
  • 1/8 tsp Coral Mica and King Tut Gold Mica
  • 0.5 oz Optiphen Plus preservative
  • Hand mixer
  • Mixing bowls
  • 4 oz jars with lid

How to make Honey Hibiscus Whipped Soap Perfect for Summer

Separate 4 ounces from the whipped soap base container and place in a mixing bowl. Learn how to make whipped soap base from scratch in this post.

Weigh out 1.25 ounces of shea butter and melt it in the microwave.

Allow the shea butter to start cooling, and then add it to the mixing container with the whipped soap base.

Add the MCT oil, Vitamin E oil, and fragrance oil if you plan to use it, and mix well for five to seven minutes.

Mixing for five to seven minutes will incorporate air into the mix and will create the light and fluffy consistency of the whipped soap. Be patient, it is worth it.

Other oils I have used for whipped soap that are also great for the skin and can be used as a replacement for the MCT oil are rice bran oil, sweet almond oil, and grapeseed oil – all great for the skin with wonderful moisturizing properties. Rice bran oil is a wonderful replacement as it is also high in Vitamin E. I always keep these oil options on hand for my cold process soap formulations.

How to color the Summer Honey Hibiscus whipped soap

Separate the whipped soap into two equal parts. To one container, add the Coral color mica, and to the second container, add the Gold King Tut color mica.

Mix the micas into the whipped soap thoroughly using a spatula.

To pipe the whipped soap into the jars and keep the colors separate, place the two colors of whipped soap side by side on a cling wrap, as shown below. Then insert the soap into a piping bag and pipe the whipped soap into the saving jars.

Use it as often as you want. This is just a great treat for the shower or bath. I keep it next to the sink to use for hand washing. I love how my hands feel when I use this whipped soap.
