Sugar scrub cubes is another fun and easy do it yourself project that can be made for yourself or as a gift to friends and family. I love making these because there are so many variations I want to try and experiment with various oils and butters for the added skin benefits.

Using sugar scrub cubes is a great way to exfoliate and cleanse at the same time. The sugar is the key for exfoliating the skin allowing for skin cell regeneration that helps the skin look healthy and smooth. The soap base provides the cleansing and the added oils help with further moisturizing the skin.

- 18 oz granulated sugar
- 9 oz melt and pour soap base
- 6 oz sweet almond oil, jojoba oil, grapeseed oil or avocado oil (or a mix of them totaling 3 ounces)
- 10 drops of lavender essential oil (you can buy it here)
- 5 drops of peppermint essential oil (you can buy it here)
- lavender color mica
- light green color mica
- 2 ocean wave soap mold
- 2 microwave safe measuring cups
I used shea butter melt and pour soap base for this recipe but there are so many other natural soap base options out there, goats milk melt and pour soap base, cocoa butter soap base or clear glycerin soap base can also be used for this project.
These lavender and mint sugar scrub cubes are mildly exfoliating and great for either morning or night. The refreshing peppermint aroma will lift you up and the lovely lavender will help you relax. These lavender and mint sugar scrub cubes will definitely leave beautifully conditioned skin.
Here are the steps to make the lavender and mint sugar scrub cubes
In two large microwave safe glass measuring cups measure out 4.5 ounces of the shea butter melt and pour soap base in each. Melt the melt and pour soap base in microwave 30 seconds at a time until fully melted. For the lavender, use one of the 4.5 ounces melted soap base and add the lavender mica and the 10 drops of lavender essential oil. To the other 4.5 ounces of melted soap base add the light green color mica and 5 drops of peppermint essential oil. Make sure to mix well and fully combine the mica.
To each of the containers add 3 ounces each of the sweet almond oil (or mix of oils) and mix to combine.
Set the ocean waves soap molds close to where you are mixing since this step needs to be performed very quickly.
Pour the 9 ounces of sugar to the peppermint soap base and oils mix and mix quickly to incorporate. Pour the mix into the molds only half way through the mold.
Quickly mix the additional 9 ounces of sugar into the lavender soap base mix well to incorporate. Pour the lavender sugar scrub in the molds over the peppermint sugar scurb and fill the molds.
If the mix starts to dry too much before pouring, put back in the microwave to re-melt for 10 seconds at a time.
Once the lavender and mint sugar scrub has hardened in the mold remove from mold and cut into cubes.
This is how lovely these lavender and mint sugar scrub looks just out of the ocean waves soap mold.
How to use the lavender and mint sugar scrub cubes
To use the lavender and mint sugar scrub cubes, take a few cubes over to the shower and break apart in your hands and use just like regular soap.
Keep the lavender an mint sugar scrub cubes in an air tight container or sealable bag and in a cool place. These will have a shelf life of 6 months. If they last that long at your home. At mine, they will be all used up before then.
I love using these, you can certainly feel a soft lovely skin after the shower.
I hope you get to try this project and let me know how it turns out.
More solid sugar scrub ideas: Grapefruit sugar scrub cubes, this is a great project for the summer. Also the Oatmeal and Honey solid sugar scrub is great all year long but one of my favorites for Autumn.
