I am using an ocean waves soap mold that I’ve had for a while and is available in several soap-making suppliers as well as on Amazon. The size of the soap is great for a standard soap and a nice party favor or gift.
For this sea shells melt and pour soap I am using a double layer technique and two blue colors of mica. However, this technique for melt and pour soap DIY can be used in any soap mold; even a milk carton box will work.
There are so many wonderful melt and pour soap bases that I love to use. I’ve listed some of my favorites below. For this summer waves melt and pour soap DIY I chose the aloe vera melt and pour base and an oatmeal soap base. The aloe vera soap base is clear and the mica colorants show bright and beautiful. I used a darker blue color mica on the oatmeal soap base that still shows a lovely pastel blue.

How to make sea shells melt and pour soap
There are only a few steps to this DIY but the final product is perfectly beautiful.
Start by cutting the aloe melt and pour soap base into small cubes and melt in the microwave using 30-second intervals.
Add the celestial blue color mica to the melted aloe vera soap and mix well.
Pour the light blue aloe vera soap base into the molds and allow it to cool to approximately 90 degrees F. Allow for a thin layer to form on the top before pouring the next layer.
Then cut and melt the oatmeal soap base.
Add the la bomba blue color mica to the melted oatmeal soap base and mix well using a spoon.
Make sure that the aloe vera soap layer is cool to the touch and has formed a thin layer.
Spray the aloe vera soap with rubbing alcohol generously. This step is critical, this is what is going to help adhere the layers together.
Carefully pour the oatmeal soap base soap over the aloe vera soap layer. Use a spoon to break the pressure of the pour to ensure that the bottom layer is not broken. This will ensure the two layers are distinct.
Allow the soaps to cool for a couple of hours.
Unmold the summer waves melt and pour soaps and enjoy.
Tips and troubleshooting melt and pour soaps DIY
It is a good idea to keep a spray bottle with rubbing alcohol readily available when making melt and pour soaps. This can be used to remove the bubbles at the top of the soap and also aid in adhering layers. If you are using a double pour technique, make sure to spray some rubbing alcohol at the end to remove any bubbles that may have formed.
This soap is not only gorgeous I love the beautiful blue colors and how perfect it is for summer, a trip to the beach or just to change the bathroom decor.
