This olive branch whipped soap DIY was inspired by the lovely scent of this fragrance oil. I purchased it some time ago and have used it in cold process soap and decided it is also great for whipped soap. The scent is perfect for any season. My approach when coming up with ideas for these whipped soap DIYs is to pair colors that come to my mind when I smell the scent. Not a lot of science but a lot of intuition! I decided to pair a lovely coral color with an olive green color for this whipped soap. I love the earthy combination of coral and olive green in this soap.

If you have been following this blog for a while you know that making whipped soap is one of my favorite skincare DIYs to make. I love that there are so many variations you can create by simply changing colors and scents and also making unique whipped soaps for every season. For this olive branch whipped soap DIY, you can use a whipped soap base or make your own. I have a DIY whipped soap base from scratch post that you can use to make your base from scratch. Otherwise, I have a recommendation for one of my favorite store-bought whipped soap bases in the list of ingredients below.
Olive Branch Whipped Soap
The scent I selected for this whipped soap is a comparable version to the olive branch from a retail store. It is a lovely scent of orange and lemon with a light musk and faint vanilla notes. This scent is perfect for other skin care projects such as body butter, creams, and lotions, it is just wonderful.
In this formulation, I’ve added kokum butter. Kokum butter has become another one of my favorite butters to use and I use it in a lot of my formulations whether cold process soap, body butter, and of course, whipped soap. I like that the scent is not as strong as the unrefined shea butter which I also love to include in my soaps. You can also replace the kokum butter with shea butter or mango butter.

How to make olive branch whipped soap
Separate 4 ounces from the whipped soap base container and place in a mixing bowl. Learn how to make whipped soap base from scratch in this post.
Weigh out the 1 ounce of kokum butter and melt it in the microwave, then add to the mixing container with the whipped soap base.
Use the hand mixer and mix for a minute or two to mix the kokum butter and whipped soap base.
Add the sunflower oil, Vitamin E oil, and the olive branch fragrance oil if you plan to use it, and mix well for another five to seven minutes using the hand mixer.
Mixing for five to seven minutes will incorporate air into the mix and will create the light and fluffy consistency of the whipped soap. Be patient, it is absolutely worth it.
Other oils I have used for whipped soap that are also great for the skin and can be used as a replacement for sunflower oil are jojoba oil, sweet almond oil, rice bran oil, and grapeseed oil – all great for the skin with wonderful moisturizing properties. Rice bran oil is a wonderful replacement as it is also high in Vitamin E.
Separate the whipped soap into two parts and add the mica colorants. I used 2/3 of the soap for the coral color and 1/3 of the base for the olive green color as shown above.
To pipe the whipped soap into the jars and keep the colors separate, place the two colors of whipped soap side by side on a cling wrap, as shown in the earlier picture. Then insert the soap into a piping bag and pipe the whipped soap into the saving jars.
Use it as often as you want. This is just a great treat for the shower or bath.
