Creating whipped soap is one of my favorite skincare DIY projects. It’s incredibly versatile—you can easily customize it with different colors and scents to create unique whipped soaps for every season. For this peppermint whipped soap DIY, you can use a whipped soap base or make your own. I have a DIY whipped soap base from scratch post that you can use to make your base from scratch. Otherwise, I recommend one of my favorite store-bought whipped soap bases, listed in the ingredients list below. This peppermint whipped soap is a great hostess gift to make for friends and family this holiday season.
Winter Themed Whipped Soap
For this winter whipped soap, I chose a scent comparable to the twisted peppermint. It has sweet and delightful peppermint notes that will make your home feel like Christmas morning. This fragrance is also perfect for cold process soaps.
In this formulation, I’ve added mango butter. Mango butter is a harder butter and I enjoy using it in some of my formulations whether cold process soap, body butter, and of course, whipped soap. It is perfect for this DIY because it is white in nature and keeps the light color for the white portion of this twisted peppermint whipped soap. You can use refined shea butter which butter is processed to remove the color and scent but also retains the good skin care properties. You can also replace the mango butter with kokum butter.
Twisted Peppermint Whipped Soap DIY Ingredients and Materials

- 1 oz Sweet Almond Oil

- 1 oz Mango Butter
- 1 ml Twisted Peppermint Comparable Fragrance Oil
- 1/8 tsp Red Mica
- Hand mixer
- Mixing bowls
- 4 oz jars with lid
How to make peppermint whipped soap
Separate 4 ounces from the whipped soap base container and place in a mixing bowl. Learn how to make whipped soap base from scratch in this post.
Weigh out the 1 ounce of mango butter and melt in the microwave, then add to the mixing container with the whipped soap base.
Use the hand mixer and mix for a minute or two to mix the mango butter and base.
Add the sweet almond oil, Vitamin E oil, and fragrance oil if you plan to use it, and mix well for another five to seven minutes.
Mixing for five to seven minutes will incorporate air into the mix and will create the light and fluffy consistency of the whipped soap. Be patient, it is absolutely worth it.
Other oils I have used for whipped soap that are also great for the skin and can be used as a replacement for sweet almond oil are jojoba oil, rice bran oil, and grapeseed oil – all great for the skin with wonderful moisturizing properties. Rice bran oil is a wonderful replacement as it is also high in Vitamin E. I always keep these oils options on hand for my cold process soap formulations.
How to color the twisted peppermint whipped soap
Separate the whipped soap into two equal parts and add the red mica colorant to one of the parts.
Mix in the mica using a spatula.
To pipe the whipped soap into the jars and keep the colors separate, place the two colors of whipped soap side by side on a cling wrap, as shown below. Then insert the soap into a piping bag and pipe the whipped soap into the saving jars.
Use it as often as you want. This is just a great treat for the shower or bath.
Perfect as a gift whipped soap!
In addition to being a great skin-loving shower treat to make for yourself, this whipped soap can be a perfect gift idea.

I would like to know which preservative you would recommend and how much to use for this recipe. Considering that wet hands will be scooping out the product, it will introduce water to the product and without a preservative there is a risk of growing bacteria and mold.
I look forward to your reply, as I really want to try this recipe, it sounds fantastic!
Thanks!

Hi Caroline, I recommend Optiphen + at a rate of 1% of the total amount of product as a preservative to add to the skin care products. Thank you so much for stopping by and I hope you make lots of great whipped soap!
