How to personalize appetizer plates
I have been thinking about what would be a great gift for a baker, and finally, after a few days, I saw the big bright light above my head with a fantastic idea. What can you give a baker that is unique, of course, in addition to all possible kitchen gadgets that make every baker’s life easy. I wanted to try something different, fun, and DIY. What is more unique than DIY personalized appetizer plates? I got some inspiration and decided to get some hors d’oeuvres plates. These turned out beautiful, here is how you can make them yourself.

I got some small plates from World Market. These are great for parties and perfect size for appetizers and big enough to fit one cupcake!
I used dishwasher-safe mod podge and cake and cupcake-themed paper. Certainly, use your favorite decorated paper, make it yours. A heart-themed paper may be a fantastic idea for a Valentine’s Day gift or party or abstract paint or watercolors for a more eclectic look.
Gather your materials, here is what you’ll need:
- small appetizer plates
- Baking-themed scrapbooking paper
- paper cutter
- Dishwasher safe mod podge
- foam brush
- pink vinyl
The first step is to cut the paper large enough to cover the center area of the plates and put one thick layer of Mod Podge. Allow at least 20 minutes to dry.
Then I decided to use vinyl letters for the monogram to give it that personal touch, and glitter. You can use a different color type of paper to create some contrast. Cut the letters that will fit your style and theme.
Once the monogram is in place apply an additional layer of Mod Podge and allow it to fully dry. This time allow to dry for about an hour. After that, you can apply another coat if necessary.
The label in the Mod Podge states it can take up to 28 days to fully cure, while patience is a virtue… I decided to use them earlier than that and wash them by hand although it is dishwasher safe.
These are beautiful personalized plates to include in a basket for the hostess of a party, to gift to your favorite baker, or to have at the house for those great family reunions or birthday parties…I am sure it will be a conversation piece.
I hope you get to try this and let me know how they turn out.
