How to Make Triple Butter Pink Lemonade Body Butter With Kokum, Mango, and Shea Butters

This Pink Lemonade triple butter body butter is super luxurious and perfect for the hot months. I made this formulation specifically thinking about our fun yearly trip to the Texas Palo Duro Canyon in the summer. What makes this body butter so luxurious and perfect for the hot months is the combination of three wonderful moisturizing and hard butters. Both kokum and mango butter are harder than shea butter and with a higher melting point. This combination of three great moisturizing butters also has amazing skin benefits. The kokum butter has become one of my favorites, it is easily absorbed into the skin and I love that it does not have a greasy feel at all. For some of my body butters I add arrowroot powder to cut a bit on the heavy feel of the butters but definitely not in this case.

With this triple butter body butter, a little goes a long way because of the decadence of the combined butters. The kokum butter and the pink lemonade fragrance can be purchased from various soap-making suppliers.
Body butters are great for the fall and winter seasons when the air is so dry and can dry the skin. But also great for any time of the year and especially after spending a long time out under the sun. You can use great body butters daily after a shower or at any time actually. A great body butter will impart some moisture to the skin and give a beautiful fragrance.

Making body butter is not very complicated but it does require some patience. It takes several minutes to whip the butter to the right consistency. Follow the steps below and you will have a fantastic skin-loving pink lemonade body butter in no time.
Step by Step Making of Pink Lemonade Body Butter – A Triple Butter Body Butter
Ingredients and materials:
- 1 oz kokum butter
- 0.7 oz shea butter
- 1 oz mango butter
- 0.3 oz jojoba oil or sweet almond oil
- 0.5 ml using a dropper of Pink Lemonade fragrance oil (from bescented.com)
- Light yellow color mica
- plastic bail jars

Weigh out the kokum butter, mango butter, and shea butter and place them in a heat-safe container.
Melt the butters using the microwave in 30-second intervals until only a few pieces are left. Use a spatula to swirl the remaining pieces of the butters until they are fully melted. I like this method because that way I can try to control the temperature a bit and try to avoid overheating the wonderful moisturizing butters. For better temperature control use the double boiler method for melting the butters.
Add the jojoba oil and mix well using a spatula
Transfer the melted butters to a mixing container and place in the refrigerator for a half hour to an hour.

Add the Pink Lemonade fragrance and the yellow mica and whip for 7 to 10 minutes.

Place the pink lemonade body butter in a cling wrap then insert into a piping bag.
Transfer the body butter into the jars.
Piping the body butter is completely optional but I love doing it. I think it looks beautiful. It is perfect if you are using this body butter as a gift and makes it really attractive if you are planning to sell it.
Keep the luxurious pink lemonade body butter in an airtight container and use it as often as needed.

This Pink Lemonade body butter feels wonderful on the skin. I like that it does not feel greasy at all.
However, if you like you can also add arrowroot powder, but I really think it does not need it at all. As I said earlier with body butters, a little goes a long way but don’t hesitate to splurge if you like!

I have a simpler yet very rich and super skin-loving body butter with mango butter that you will also love. Try the Mango and Avocado Body Butter, it’s just wonderful. Then this Kokum Butter Body Butter is just another great recipe to try.
If you try and make this body butter, I would love to hear how it turned out!

Would I be able to put vitamin E in it if so how much would you say to use ? I’m excited to try and make this
Yes, vitamin E is a great additive for skin care products. The usual recommendation on Vitamin E is 1% of the formulation. I am so glad you are excited to try this body butter. I hope you like it and enjoy making it!
Hello,
I made a body butter with kokum butter shea butter and kokum butter but when I whipped it it has a lot of bubbles but still works well on the skin, what’s the reason for this?
It’s possible is the coconut oil. When I make whipped items with coconut oil I notice more bubbles than with other hard butters. I am not sure which ingredient you replaced with the coconut oil but this is what I can think of with the limited information. I appreciate that you experimented with the formulation, I love creating new things and learning how each ingredient behaves in my formulations.
Sorry I meant and coconut oil

I love the simplicity of this recipe however mine never whipped up. It looks still the same as when I put in refrigerator. I did triple the ingredients in order to make more. I started with electric beater and then used immersion blender for a minute and then back to electric beater. Nothing worked. I used a different fragrance oil and no color. What did I do wrong? Thanks!
Hello Ann, thank you for stopping by and for your comment. I’ve never used the immersion blender for my body butters so I am not sure if that is the reason why this body butter did not work out for you, I always use a hand mixer. It should have turned out similar to the pictures in the DIY. Since you tripled the recipe, it should have taken a bit longer to whip. You can try placing it back in the refrigerator until it has hardened and try whipping it again from the hardened state.
Thanks for sharing your recipe… as I don’t have Kokum butter can I use cocoa butter instead with the shea and mango butters? Also what is the percentage ratio of butters to oils for the recipe? Thanks again. Iris
Hi Iris, thank you so much for stopping by and for your question! Yes you can replace the Kokum butter with cocoa butter for this recipe. This recipe is very heavy on butters as I intended it to be good to ship during the hot summer months. This was a request from one of my readers on a good formulation that will keep while shipping during the hot summer. It is 90% butters and 10% oils. I used a large amount of kokum butter because I like that it does not feel greasy. I hope you try it and it works for you!
Thanks for your reply. Do you have a recipe for body butter that is more in the ratio of 70/30% or 60/40% butters to oils as I’ve seen that they are good ratios to use? Thanks. Iris
