Super easy DIY pom pom garland for Autumn décor
I found a beautiful yarn with the lovely fall colors recently and wanted to create something with it to decorate the home this fall season. A fall garland for the fireplace mantle idea came to mind and I was able to make this easy DIY pom pom garland for fall décor in only a few minutes. I found the yarn colors were also matching some of my other decorations at home and it was perfect to complement those other decorations. This super quick and easy pom pom garland for fall décor is now in the mantle above the fireplace.

One thing I like about this project is that it is super easy to make and I only needed a few materials that I already had at home.
Materials for the quick and easy pom pom garland for fall décor
- Sensations Angel Hair stripes yarn (Art #09158056 color #102)
- Jute twine
- large fork
- scissors
I was so happy to be able to create a unique and simple decorating item to match home decorating colors that is also perfect for fall.
Yarn pom poms are so fun to make. First wrap the yarn around the fork several times. For the small pom poms I made, I did about 30 to 35 loops around the fork with the yarn.
Cut a 3 inches long piece of yarn and tie a knot in the middle of the open space in the fork wrapping the yarn. This will split the yarn loops into two halves. Remove the yarn from the fork and cut the loop ends. Cut some of the longer pieces of yarn to give the pom poms its signature round look. Do not cut the longer pieces of yarn used for the center knot; those will be used to tie the pom pom to the jute twine.
Once you have enough pom poms made for the size of the garland, tie the pom poms to the jute twine approximately three inches apart. Then cut the excess yarn used for the know if it is still too long. And voila, a new pom pom garland with the beautiful fall colors to decorate the home this season!
I remember growing up in summer camps learning about creating different types of crafts. Making pom poms was always so much fun; I am enjoying it now as much as I did then. I like that pom poms can be used for so many projects and can be of so many different colors with all the variations of yarn available. This is the first time I use this type of “angel hair” yarn but I really like the look.
I hope you enjoyed this quick project and maybe get to try it soon.
