A fun way to transform the mason jars salt and pepper shakers and bring some life inside the home is to make a fun terrarium with succulent plants. As soon as I saw the mini mason jars I knew I wanted to get them to use in a project. The mason jars salt and pepper shakers are so small that I had to really think what would be a good project for them. I decided to turn them into a terrarium. Bringing plants inside the house, can bring so many benefits and I love brining nature inside the home. I like using succulent plants because they are resilient. Succulent plants thrive well inside the house in areas where they can get some sun. Succulent plants work great for our home in case we forget to water them a day or two. It is recommended to allow the soil to dry in between watering succulent plants.

Gather the materials
Gather some rocks and a succulent plants. I used three types of decorative stones and pebbles, the white ones, multiple colors and dark granite type.
How to make a terrarium with succulent plants out of salt and pepper shaker
This is a very fun and easy project, all you have to do is to layer the rocks and put some potting soil. Then finish off with a set of rocks.
It was very easy to make, and I love the farmhouse look of the mini mason jars. Its great to bring plants inside the home, they generate oxygen and can add humidity to the room air in dry conditions. Above all, plants create a healthier living environment and purify the air. With succulent plants being small, they can be used in any space around the house, including small spaces.
I wanted to take a picture of the terrariums in front of the passion fruit plant. It is exciting to see the passion fruit flowers bloom. I hope we get some fruit soon.

Hi Jasmine,
These are so cute! Do you think they’ll last through winter if left inside with some sun? I’ve thought about getting some but was concerned that they won’t last.
Thanks!
Stephanie

Hi Stephanie, I have read that you can place the succulents inside in the sunniest part of the house during winter and they tend to thrive. The hardy succulents thrive in the cold climates and can be left outside. For the ones I used, I will be keeping inside the house and making sure they can get as much sunlight as possible during the cold months.
