I find that melt and pour soaps are quick and easy to make. I think it is the perfect DIY to make in a fun and creative afternoon. Melt and pour soaps can be used immediately after the soaps are hardened which is usually within a couple of hours depending on the type you are making. For this super fun sea shells melt and pour soap DIY you will have a lovely soap in less than one hour. In this DIY I share how to the double pour technique to make beautiful handmade sea shells soaps. I am using a sea shells soap mold that I’ve had for a while but I give you some recommendations in the list of materials below. The size of the soaps is great for a standard soap and a nice party favor or gift.

For this sea shells melt and pour soap I am using a double pour technique and one color mica. I am using a sea shells plastic mold but you can use any mold you have on hand; even a milk carton box will work.
There are so many wonderful melt and pour soap bases that I love to use. I’ve listed some below. For this sea shells melt and pour soap DIY I chose the aloe vera melt and pour base and a shea butter base. The aloe vera soap base is clear and the mica colorants show bright and beautiful. I left the shea butter base uncolored to give the sea shell soaps a two color appearance.

Aloe Vera sea shells melt and pour soap DIY ingredients and materials
- 4 oz Aloe vera soap base
- 1 oz Shea butter soap base
- pinch (small amount) of Satin Penny color mica (or similar color)
- 1 ml Bergamot Black Tea fragrance oil (optional) or your favorite essential oil
- soap cutter
- sea shells soap molds
- heat safe measuring cup
How to make sea shells melt and pour soap
There are only a few steps to this DIY but the final product is perfectly beautiful.
Start by cutting the aloe melt and pour soap base into small cubes and melt in the microwave using 30-second intervals.
Then cut and melt the shea butter soap base.
Add the satin penny color mica to the melted aloe vera soap base and mix well using a spoon.
Take the melted soap bases one in each hand and pour at the same time and alternating the colors to create a complex double pour color layer.
Fill the soap mold to the top line.
For one of the soaps, I decided to add a small sea sponge that I had purchased from a soap making store. This step is optional but I love that it gives an additional benefit to
Allow the soaps to cool for a couple of hours.
Unmold the sea shells melt and pour soaps and enjoy.
Tips and troubleshooting sea shells melt and pour soaps DIY
It is a good idea to keep a spray bottle with rubbing alcohol readily available when making melt and pour soaps. This can be used to remove the bubbles at the top of the soap and also aid in adhering layers. If making layers of soap instead of a double pour, make sure to spray some rubbing alcohol before adding the layers.
This soap is not only gorgeous I love the bright colors and how perfect it is for summer, a trip to the beach or just to change the bathroom decor.
