Skin Loving Vanilla Woods Whipped Soap DIY

A few weeks ago I was gifted with some fragrance oils and I have been testing them in some of my favorite DIYs and products that I love to make. Today I am sharing with you a new to me scent that is comparable to the Iced Vanilla Woods. This scent is just wonderful, I think it is perfect for the fall season and would make great whipped soap, cold process soap, and perfect In this week’s DIY. I was inspired by this scent to use neutral fall colors so this week’s vanilla woods DIY is perfect for Autumn. I decided to make another wonderful and easy whipped soap DIY. Whipped soap is probably in my top 3 skincare products that I love to make, I am sure you have seen a lot here and I have so many more ideas to share with you in the future. I love adding shea butter to my whipped soaps. I used ultra-refined shea butter for this DIY as well as kokum butter. Shea butter and kokum butter are lovely for the skin and add a layer of extra moisturizer to the whipped soap.

I absolutely love making different variations of whipped soap at home. I love that I can create unique variations for special occasions, the various seasons, and as gifts for special occasions. You can choose your favorite formulation and simply change colors and scents and you will have a new whipped soap in no time. For this whipped soap DIY, you can use a whipped soap base (Stephensons is my favorite) or make your own. I have a DIY whipped soap base from scratch post that you can use to make your own base for this DIY. I kept the color muted to let the aesthetic reflect the name of this whipped soap.

Vanilla Woods Whipped Soap DIY

The scent I am using in this vanilla woods whipped soap DIY can be used for both feminine and masculine soaps. I think it is just perfect for the fall season. I chose to color this whipped soap with neutral color micas that are also perfect for the season.

One of the benefits of making your own whipped soap is that you can enhance its properties by adding oils and butters. In this DIY, I used ultra-refined shea butter, which basically is a shea butter that has been processed to remove scent and color. I prefer unrefined shea butter but some of you have asked for other options as you do not like the natural scent. I recommend getting refined shea butter. The refined shea butter retains the moisturizing properties and it is still a great option to use. You can also replace the shea butter with kokum butter or mango butter. Shea butter is highly moisturizing and some studies show that it can also soothe skin problems and is high in antioxidants which can have anti-aging properties.

Kokum butter is another highly moisturizing with lots of skin benefits butter. It is a lighter weight than shea butter and not as “heavy/greasy” as shea butter. It is also a harder butter which is perfect to add more consistency to the whipped soap.

Vanilla Woods Whipped Soap DIY Ingredients and Materials

  • 4 oz foaming bath butter
  • 1/2 tsp Vitamin E Oil
  • 0.5 oz Shea Butter
  • 0.5 oz Kokum Butter
  • 0.5 oz Jojoba Oil
  • 1.5 ml Comparable with Iced Vanilla Woods Fragrance Oil
  • 1/8 tsp Mica soap colorants in merlot sparkle, summer bronze, and gold
  • Hand mixer
  • Mixing bowls
  • 4 oz jars with lid

How to make vanilla woods whipped soap DIY

Separate 4 ounces from the whipped soap base container and place in a mixing bowl. Learn how to make whipped soap base from scratch in this post.

Weigh out the half ounce of shea butter and the half ounce of kokum butter and melt in the microwave using 30 second intervals. Once fully melted add to the mixing container with the whipped soap base.

Use the hand mixer and mix for a minute or two to mix the melted butters with the whipped soap base.

Add the Vitamin E oil, and fragrance oil, and mix well for another five minutes.

Mix well for another five to seven minutes. This will incorporate air into the mix and will create the light and fluffy consistency of the whipped soap. Be patient, it will have a very light soft texture and feel super light on the skin.

How to Color the Vanilla Woods Whipped Soap

Add the gold sparkle color mica to the whipped soap base and mix well.

To pipe the whipped soap into the jars and have the border colors, place the merlot sparkle mica mixed with jojoba oil on cling wrap in three parallel lines. Then place parallel lines of the summer bronze mica mixed with jojoba oil alternating between the previous color lines. See the earlier picture as a reference.

Then place the whipped soap over the center line and fold. Finally, insert the soap into a piping bag and pipe the whipped soap into the saving jars.

I am loving the neutral colors of this vanilla woods whipped soap.

Use it as often as you want. This is just a great treat for the shower or bath.

Love this recipe but keep hearing you should use a preservative (if selling)?
Something like Optiphen? Do you know how much one should add to their mixture….

    Thankyou!

Hello Lori, depending on the preservative you purchase, it will indicate how much to use for the different applications. I recommend Optiphen Plus and the recommended levels are 0.5 to 1%.
