I love adding shea butter to my whipped soaps, so I kept it simple and only added shea butter to the base for this lovely whipped soap DIY. I used ultra-refined shea butter and sweet almond oil for extra moisturizing.
For this whipped soap DIY, you can use a whipped soap base (Stephensons is my favorite) or make your own. I have a DIY whipped soap base from scratch post that you can use to make your own base for this DIY. For today’s DIY, I kept the color muted with a light pink and a lavender mica. I love making different variations of whipped soap. I love that I can create unique variations for special occasions, the various seasons, and as gifts for special occasions. You can choose your favorite formulation and simply change colors and scents and you will have a new whipped soap in no time.
Smoked Tonka and Oud Whipped Soap DIY
The scent I am using in this whipped soap DIY can be used for either feminine or masculine soaps. I think it is also perfect for the fall season. As I said, it is very earthy and a little sweet. I chose to color this whipped soap with two muted colors that are some of my favorites from the mica colorants I have collected over the years.
One of the benefits of making your whipped soap is that you can enhance its properties by adding oils and butters. In this DIY, I used ultra-refined shea butter, which is a shea butter that has been processed to remove scent and color. I prefer unrefined shea butter but some of you have asked for other options as you do not like the natural scent. I recommend getting refined shea butter. The refined shea butter retains the moisturizing properties and it is still a great option to use. You can also replace the shea butter with kokum butter or mango butter. Shea butter is highly moisturizing and some studies show that it can also soothe skin problems and is high in antioxidants which can have anti-aging properties.

How to make smoked tonka and oud whipped soap DIY
Separate 4 ounces from the whipped soap base container and place in a mixing bowl. Learn how to make whipped soap base from scratch in this post.
Weigh out one ounce of shea butter and melt it in the microwave using 30-second intervals. Once fully melted add to the mixing container with the whipped soap base.
Use the hand mixer and mix for a minute or two to mix the melted shea butter with the whipped soap base.
Add the Vitamin E oil, sweet almond oil, and fragrance oil, and mix well for another five minutes.
Mix well for another five to seven minutes. This will incorporate air into the mix and will create the light and fluffy consistency of the whipped soap. Be patient, it will have a very light soft texture and feel super light on the skin.
How to Color the Smoked Tonka and Oud Whipped Soap
Separate the whipped soap into two containers.
Add the lavender color mica to one container and the light pink color mica to the second container. Mix well using a spatula.
To pipe the whipped soap into the jars and have the separate colors, place the lavender whipped soap and the light pink whipped soap on parallel lines on cling wrap.
Then insert the soap into a piping bag and pipe the whipped soap into the saving jars.
I love how the lavender and light pink colors look together in this smoked tonka and oud whipped soap.
Use it as often as you want. This is just a great treat for the shower or bath.
