Summer entertaining is always fun, the pool, the beach and sunny beautiful days call for a celebration in large and small scales. My daughter enjoys spending her vacation time at the pool. When we have friends or relatives over its always called a pool party although it is just a few of us. In this case, the entertaining is on the small scale.

Add some pizazz to the impromptu pool party
A simple way to bring some pizazz to the colorful days of summer, is to add some fun decor and style to the party. With that in mind, I decided to make a fruit stand. I wanted to use it to keep some of those snacks close to the pool for those 5 minutes breaks from the sun and water.
Here is another simple “how to” that I hope you enjoy. Take the idea and make it yours. Use the colors of your choosing as well as the decorative plates that match your style.
I found these nice-looking paisley plates that reminded me of summer time and were incredibly inexpensive. For the spacer, I used a candle holder that I painted with the new favorite chalk paint.
After selecting the plates and candle holder, the next step is to glue them together. Another idea is to use some plates from an incomplete set. Possibly from an old set you love and the beauty of life has rendered it minus one or two.
Here are are a few tips to make sure that the plates are centered.
First of all, glue the small plate to the candle end of the candle holder. Then use a tape measure and measure four times from the end of the candle holder to the end of the plate. Use markers at 12, 3, 6 and 9 clock locations (or for the techies 0, 90, 180 and 270 degrees angles). Move as needed to make sure that the plate and candle holder are centered together. Make sure you do this very quickly while the glue is still wet. Clean up any excess immediately so that there is no trace of it as it dries.
Leave the plate upside down for the glue to dry for about 20 minutes. This glue dries fast and clear, exactly what I needed for this project.
For the bottom plate, put the glue on the bottom of the candle holder and glue to the plate. Measure as described above and clean any excess quickly.
And voila, fast and inexpensive 2 tier fruit stand
Now we have a purposeful item for those impromptu pool parties or any other entertaining this summer.
