Melt and pour soaps are fairly quick and easy to make, one of the reasons I love making melt and pour soaps is because I can use it right away after the soap has cooled and unmolded. In this DIY I share how to make a layered sunflower soap using a soap mold. I’ve had this mold for a while. I received it as part of one of my mystery boxes and have not been able to use. I think it perfectly fitting for this week’s easy DIY.

For this melt and pour soap I am using a layer method and three mica colorants. I am using a sunflower mold but you can use any mold you have on hand; even a milk carton box will work.
There are so many wonderful melt and pour bases. I’ve listed some below. For this melt and pour sunflower soap I chose the aloe vera melt and pour base. This base has aloe already included in it which has wonderful skin properties and is very soothing for the skin.

How to make aloe vera sunflower melt and pour soap
The steps are relatively easy and the final product is just beautiful. Start by cutting the aloe melt and pour soap base into small cubes and melt in the microwave using 10-second intervals.
For this first layer of the brown center of the sunflower, I used approximately an ounce of soap.
Once the soap is melted add a small amount of cappuccino color mica. Mix well and pour carefully into the center of the sunflower mold.
Allow cooling for about 15 minutes.
Once the first layer is cooled and hardened, start the second layer.
For this second layer, I used approximately 3 ounces of soap. Cut the aloe vera melt and pour base into cubes and melt at 30-second intervals. Once fully melted add the yellow color mica and mix well. If using a fragrance or essential oil incorporate it at this time.
Before pouring the second layer spray the first layer of soap in the mold with rubbing alcohol, this will help make sure that the layers adhere to each other.
Pour the second layer and allow it to cool for 30 to 45 minutes.
For the third layer follow the same method described above to melt the soap. Once melted add the blue mica colorant and add the fragrance if using. Mix well to integrate into the soap.
Spray rubbing alcohol on top of the second layer in the soap mold and then pour the blue layer of the aloe vera soap over the yellow later.
Allow up to two hours for the last layer of the sunflower aloe vera soap to cool.
Remove the soap from the mold and use it as needed.
This soap is not only gorgeous I love the bright colors and how perfect it is for spring.
Melt and pour soaps are just so much fun to make and it only take a short amount of time to make. These soaps make great gifts and party favors.
Let me know if you make these soaps, I would love to see your pictures.
