I’m excited to share this autumn-inspired whipped soap DIY with you—it’s a project I’ve been eager to try, and I’m thrilled with how it turned out. The scent captures the essence of the season perfectly, and the colors are spot-on for that cozy yet playful pumpkin spice vibe. This vanilla, pumpkin and marshmallow whipped soap is a joy to make any time of the year. However, the inspiration behind it was definitely the warm, festive atmosphere of fall and the anticipation of the beautiful season. I had so much fun blending the orange and green hues, and the little soap dough pumpkin on top adds a playful touch. The delightful aroma of vanilla, pumpkin and marshmallow fragrance oil really brings to mind all those indulgent holiday treats we love. I hope you give this DIY a try and enjoy it as much as I did!

Creating whipped soap is one of my favorite skincare DIY projects. It’s incredibly versatile—you can easily customize it with different colors and scents to create unique whipped soaps for every season. For this fall whipped soap DIY, you can use a whipped soap base or make your own. I have a DIY whipped soap base from scratch post that you can use to make your base from scratch. Otherwise, I have a recommendation for one of my favorite store-bought whipped soap bases in the list of ingredients below. This vanilla, pumpkin and marshmallows whipped soap is a great hostess gift to make for friends and family.
Autumn Themed Whipped Soap
For this autumn whipped soap, I chose a scent comparable to the vanilla pumpkin and marshmallows. It has sweet and delightful notes that will make your home feel like a cozy fall baking experience. This fragrance is also perfect for other skincare projects like body butters, creams, and lotions—it’s simply wonderful.
In this formulation, I’ve added organic, raw shea butter. Shea butter is one of my favorite butters to use and I use it in a lot of my formulations whether cold process soap, body butter, and of course, whipped soap. I prefer unrefined shea butter but some of you have asked for other options since you may not like the natural scent – then use a refined shea butter. The refined shea butter retains the properties but removes the scent and color and it is still a great option to use. You can also replace the shea butter with kokum butter or mango butter. Shea butter is highly moisturizing and some studies show that it can also soothe skin problems and is high in antioxidants which can have anti-aging properties.

How to make vanilla, pumpkin and marshmallow whipped soap
Separate 4 ounces from the whipped soap base container and place in a mixing bowl. Learn how to make whipped soap base from scratch in this post.
Weigh out the 1 ounce of shea butter and melt in the microwave, then add to the mixing container with the whipped soap base.
Use the hand mixer and mix for a minute or two to mix the shea butter and base.
Add the MCT oil, coffee seed oil, Vitamin E oil, and the fragrance oil if you plan to use it, and mix well for another five to seven minutes.
Mixing for five to seven minutes will incorporate air into the mix and will create the light and fluffy consistency of the whipped soap. Be patient, it is absolutely worth it.
Other oils I have used for whipped soap that are also great for the skin and can be used as a replacement for MCT oil are jojoba oil, sweet almond oil, rice bran oil, and grapeseed oil – all great for the skin with wonderful moisturizing properties. Rice bran oil is a wonderful replacement as it is also high in Vitamin E. I always keep these oils options on hand for my cold process soap formulations.
How to color the vanilla, pumpkin and marshmallows whipped soap
Separate the whipped soap into two equal parts and add the mica colorants.
Add the mica colorants to the whipped soap, then combine using a spatula.
To pipe the whipped soap into the jars and keep the colors separate, place the two colors of whipped soap side by side on a cling wrap, per the earlier picture. Then insert the soap into a piping bag and pipe the whipped soap into the saving jars.
Use it as often as you want. This is just a great treat for the shower or bath.
