Winter Body Scrub with Free Label Printable

How to make a winter body scrub with Himalayan Sea Salt and Dead Sea Salt

This salt scrub is great for exfoliating the skin, adding moisture and replenish some minerals that are known to help boost the health of the skin. There’s a lot of information available on the benefits of both Dead Sea salts an Himalayan Sea salt for the skin and that is why I am so excited to share this winter body scrub DIY.

Salt scrubs are great for exfoliating and moisturizing skin around hard areas such as knees, elbows, and feet. I love that for the most part body scrubs are also very easy to make and can be made fairly quickly depending on what ingredients are used. For this winter body scrub I decided to use sweet almond oil and shea butter. Both the sweet almond oil and the shea butter are fairly light in color and do not impact much the design that I wanted to make for this winter body scrub. However, this is only a small part of it, the main reason is that both are also great for moisturizing the skin. Shea butter is one of my favorite butters to use in my natural skin care products.

This winter lavender and peppermint salt scrub is great for gentle exfoliation of the skin. It can also be used as a foot soakand in the bath water. The lavender and peppermint essential oil blend is also wonderful scent.

I also love the fact that making my own salt scrub allows me to know exactly what is in my skincare items and I can research all the benefits for my skin and I can select them based on my needs.

Ingredients and other materials for the winter body scrub:

Winter body scrub ingredients including dead sea salt, Himalayan sea salt, shea butter, sweet almond oil and essential oils.
  • 4 ounces Dead Sea Salt
  • 4 ounces fine grain Himalayan sea salt
  • 1 oz sweet almond oil
  • 1 oz shea butter
  • Lavender and Peppermint essential oils (visit this page for my recommended essential oils)
  • 0.1 oz Vitamin E oil
  • 2 – 4 oz mason jar

This lavender and peppermint winter salt scrub is very simple to make and the basic recipe includes only five ingredients.  The essential oils are also optional and can be replaced with your favorite essential oil. I love the refreshing scent of peppermint, and lavender is always great for calming and relaxation.

Super easy step by step winter body srub DIY

First, weigh out the salts in two separate bowls or measuring cups. Keep separate so that you can achieve the candy cane design by alternating them when placing in the mason jars later on.

Add the essential oils. Add five drops of lavender essential oil and three drops of peppermint essential oil to each of the salts.

Weight out the sweet almond oil and combine with the Vitamin E oil. Then add half of this mix to each of the salt bowls.

Separate one ounce of shea butter in a microwave safe container and melt the shea butter. Once the shea butter is melted add 0.5 ounce to each of the salt bowls.

Mix the oils and the salts well using a spoon.

Lastly, spoon the salt scrub into the mason jar alternating the two salts. I like that this give a fun candy cane look that can be perfect for the holidays.  I like saving in small containers to take to the shower and keep another small container next to the sink or for the bath.

This salt scrub turned out really wonderful.

This DIY winter body scrub is a great handmade gift idea for friends and family.

Finished winter body scrub in mason jar, with alternating colors in red and white from the Himalayan sea salt and the dead sea salt.

I created a simple free printable label for you to use and when you make this salt scrub at home. You can download the pdf file here. You can also right click on the email below and save the png file over to your computer.

Two ways that you can use this label are either to print on card stock paper and punch a hole on it and string it around the lid or you can print on label paper and simply stick the label on the top of the lid.

I did not add a preservative to this salt scrub because this is a small batch. Also, it is used fairly quickly at home, however, if you plan to make a larger batch or plan to sale it or gift it as a gift I recommend you include a preservative, I recommend this one.

I hope you give a try at making salt and sugar scrubs, it’s fun, the products are great and you will have a wonderfully moisturized skin!  Let me know how you like it and what variations you decide to make.
