I hope you like this project as much as I enjoyed making it. It does not take too much time to make these but certainly you can create as many clay pumpkins as you want and as many sizes as needed to fill the space for a home decorating pumpkin patch.
Steps to make the clay pumpkins
First gather the clay in orange, brown and green. The brown will be used for the stem and the green for the leaves and tendrils.
Make the pumpkins by separating the orange clay into three different sizes to come up with three different pumpkins.
Roll the orange clay into small balls.
Flatten both ends of the pumpkin only enough to give it shape and be able to get the pumpkins to stand straight. Then using a clay carving tool make some grooves.
Get a small piece of the brown clay and make a stem. Attach the stem to the top of the pumpkin.
Add leaves and tendrils around the step on the top of the pumpkins using the green clay.
Add different shapes and sizes of leaves and tendrils.
Bake in the oven per the instructions on the clay package. These pumpkins are very small, the largest one is a diameter of about an inch and a half. The longest time for baking was twenty five minutes at 275 degrees F. All the pumpkins hardened perfectly with that time.
Allow the pumpkins to cool to room temperature. And that is all for all the making, now on to decorating with these mini pumpkins.
These are great to decorate a small area in the home with the lovely fall colors and the new clay pumpkins. This mini pumpkin patch will be a unique Fall décor.
This is a fun project that will certainly get you in the mindset for the wonderful Fall season. I love the Fall colors and leaves colors changing and the lovely cooler weather.
This project is also a great DIY to work with kids and the rest of the family as well, the most important part is to have fun making it and enjoy the final product.
