We finally put our Christmas tree up, it has an eclectic and rustic look in the décor but that is exactly what I love the most. It contains ornaments that we have made ourselves and others that we have bought at different vacations or special places that bring up wonderful memories. Some of my favorite decorations are glass red ornaments with various glittery designs on them. I use these to fill the spaces between the other decorative ornaments. I decided to make some simple yet fun and beautiful decoupage Christmas ornaments that resemble some of my favorite ones.

These are beautiful, traditional and one-of-a-kind. Great not only for my Christmas tree but also a great idea for a fun gift this season. The options are endless with all the beautiful Christmas scrapbook paper out there!
Gather the materials for the decoupage Christmas ornaments
- Christmas scrapbook paper – cut the paper into strips of 6 inches long by 1.5 inches wide
- clear plastic ornaments
- mod podge
- glitter in green, red, and silver colors
- paint brush
- green ribbon
How to make decoupage Christmas ornaments
- Remove the hanger piece from the ornament.
- Apply Mod Podge to the surface of the clear plastic ornament and apply the strips of scrapbook paper. Cover the complete surface area by applying strips until the ornament is fully covered.
- Allow the first coat of Mod Podge to dry, then apply a second coat and sprinkle some glitter over the last layer of Mod Podge. Allow drying.
- Apply Mod Podge to the hanger, then apply glitter and allow to dry.
- Assemble the hanger and ornament back together once both pieces have thoroughly dried.
I like the rustic style and the traditional green and red colors. The glitter looks perfect against the lights of the Christmas tree. I also like that these won’t break if they are dropped when decorating or putting down the tree.
Earlier I posted another DIY but for Christmas clay ornaments, you can find it here.

Jasmine, these are so pretty! You did a great job. And this was a wake up call for me, I am always looking for ornaments that will fit our existing decor colors and it’s not easy finding what I want. We decorate in white, cobalt blue, silver, black and glass. It makes our home decor and we build on it each year. I have never thought about finding scrapbook paper, or even wrapping paper that fit our color theme and making my own! DUH! Thanks for the instructions, this will make my life much easier! Happy Holidays!
