Making ornaments at home can be easy and fun. It is also a great way to spend some quality time with kids if you want to get them involved in making DIY Christmas ornament paper crafts. This one is definitely a great way to get them involved, they can select the paper and help glue the cones together. I am sure with their imagination you can create so many variations for the tree.

DIY Christmas ornament with scrapbook paper

Below is a complete step-by-step Christmas ornament wreath tutorial. You will have lovely Christmas ornaments and decorations in no time.

Select your favorite Christmas scrapbook paper and let’s get started making this Christmas wreath paper craft.

Materials for the scrapbook paper DIY Christmas ornament wreath:

  • 12 x 12 inch Christmas scrapbook paper
  • Paper trimmer
  • hot glue gun with glue sticks
  • red and white twine
  • holly branch for decorating
  • scissors
  • cardstock paper

Christmas Wreath Ornament Instructions:

Cut the Christmas scrapbook paper in 3 x 3 inches squares using the paper trimmer. You will need a total of 12 pieces of 3 x 3 inch square paper.

Cut a 2 inch circle out of the cardstock paper. This will be for the back of the Christmas wreath ornament where you will be gluing all the cones.

Make the paper cones by setting one of the corners up and then folding in the sides. The paper square will look like a diamond when looking at it. The decorated part of the paper will be facing away from you.

Glue the edge of the scrapbook paper to keep the cone shape.

Glue the cones on the 2-inch circle with each tip of the cone at the center of the circle.

Making the first cone is always tricky but once you get going it becomes effortless and goes very fast.

Once all the cones are glued together, glue in a small holly branch in the center of the paper Christmas wreath ornament to make it even more festive.

Finally, glue the red and white twine to the back of the wreath and hang it on the Christmas tree.

Other ways to use this DIY Christmas ornament paper craft is to make a few and use them to make a Christmas garland for the fireplace mantle.

In this tutorial I used the same scrapbook paper for the Christmas wreath however, you can select multiple scrapbook papers and alternate them to create a patterned wreath or create many variations with multiple scrapbook papers.

You can also make a large decorating paper wreath for the door as I did in this post. Just change the paper to your favorite Christmas or winter decorating paper and make one for Christmas and Winter!

I hope you enjoy this paper craft for the holidays. I would love to see what you make.
